Hair strainer basket comes with every QM drain, strainer fits inside the drain to collect hair and other debris, preventing pipe clogs. Also, keeps insect and small rodents from coming up thru the sewerage system. Empty basket as needed to maintain optimal performance. The use of the basket is optional
