In August of 1923, German immigrant Alfred Hering founded the Gaitas Alfred Hering Company in the city of Blumenau in Southern Brazil and began manufacturing Hering Harmonicas. Today, the company continues to produce one of the best musical instruments in the world used to play blues, jazz, country, folk classical and ethnic music.
